How I got started:

One afternoon I decided that I was going to go for my bike license, never told a soul except for my father (who by the way instigated this). I Passed. PHEW!! No. My husband didn’t have his license yet. My husband still curses me for this to this day. Sure didn’t take him long before he went and wrote the test though. So needless to say I had my M1 first.

Then came the Motorcycle Training Course. (Highly recom-mended. Experienced or not, and it saves you lots on insurance too.) My then, 58-year-old Mom did the course with me. Yeah!! Way to go Motorcycle Mama.

My first bike was a Kawasaki Vulcan Classic 800 cc. I drove it out of the dealership’s parking lot. FREEDOM! What a feeling! I received my M2 in the Summer of 2007, May to be exact…COOL! Pull another fast one. Road Test. I received my M License before my husband. Dirty, nasty, sneaky me but I know he is proud of his biker wife (he probably had a better choice of words back then).

Now I ride a 1500 cc, ride about 12,000 km a season and still don’t get enough of it.

So, for all the women out there that are hemming and hawing about whether or not to go for their license, I say, “You go girl!” (and don’t wait up for the hubby) LOL!!

Number of years riding: 33 plus

Make/ Model: 2002 BMW F650 GS, 1978 Honda 175 Enduro, 1981 Yamaha 650 SECA.

Longest Ride: Was a beautiful jaunt from my home, Rockwood, Ontario to Nova Scotia.

How I got started:

My brothers both rode and built mini bikes, so my first two wheeler was a Rupp 50 cc and a homemade mini chopper. I can remember wiping out on the chopper and coming home to show my brother my scrapes with blood, yet my brother said “I wasn’t a biker because my jean jacket never ripped.” Funny how that sticks in your head. Well I guess I’m still not a biker, just a motorcyclist.

I’m a woman that loves to ride, teach and share the joy of motorcycling while riding, drawing or painting them.

This years project is rebuilding the Yamaha 650 Seca that had been left outside to rust for many years. The model has a great vintage look and I understand will be very quick once it is restored. Wish me luck!
