Give Us Your Best Shot

from the issue May 2009

February, Friday the 13th

We arrived in Port Dover at about 11 a.m. and given that it was snowing we didn’t expect many bikes. We were attending firstly because it was almost above zero (best temp in weeks) and secondly, to be able to take photos to show those friends who still have their bikes in hibernation. I would guess about 50 bikes were there.

The streets were quiet and as we were leaving the sun came out. The temperature rose about 2-3 degrees.

We must have passed about 50 more bikes heading into Dover. Maybe March will be warmer, filled with more action and we will stay longer.

Submitted by Al Fletcher, the owner of a 2008 BMW GS1200 Adventure that he bought on November 6/08. He now has 1650 km on it that included Port Dover this past February.

I spend quite a bit of time riding the north, Algonquin and surrounding areas, as the riding is just spectacular. In any event, I took this image with a small tripod. I was amazed to find a town, or shall we call it a ‘blink and your through it’ location, bearing my family name. Too funny. Maybe I should run for Mayor.

I wonder how many of your readers could send in a picture of a town named after them. Take Care!
