Norton to Revive the Dominator SS

December 15 2014

Norton Revives a name From The Past.domifront3quarter Originally designed in 1947, the Dominator was Norton’s answer to the Triumph Speed Twin. The Dominator remained in production until 1962, the last of which was known as the 650SS. The revival of the Dominator for 2015 has been announced by Norton and will include just 50 examples.norton-domiracer-becomes-dominator-ss-production-bike_2

Plans for a lower spec, production variant of the Dominator SS are rumoured to be in the works, so don’t fret if you’re not able to secure one of the first 50 limited edition models. Components and specifications should be very close to the existing Commando models, but with a more aggressive stance, as seen in these Norton design drawings.

After several years of delays, Norton appears to be delivering on its promises and slowly, if not cautiously, ramping up production and design at Donington Hall. Hopefully this conservative approach will see the company prosper and expand in the years to come.
