2016 Victory Empulse TT Electric Motorcycle

July 30 2015

Since acquiring Brammo (formerly makers of electric motorcycles) it would seem Victory Motorcycles has been sprinting towards this moment. The release of the 2016 Victory Impulse TT represents yet another feather in the cap for Polaris industries, a company that has been among the most active in the powersports industry over the last year.

A successful 2015 Isle of Man TT serves as the perfect marketing tool and tie-in to the companies increasingly sporting intentions, the hopes for which rest atop the saddle of the 2016 Victory Empulse TT and it’s impending accompaniment of models.

Capable of achieving speeds over 160 km/h and recharge times under four hours with a 240V power supply (about nine hours with a standard household plug-in) the Empulse TT is an attempt at balancing performance and practicality. The 10.4kWh Brammo Power Lithium Ion battery allows a range of around 100 km under typical riding conditions. Victory claims a gentle throttle hand and use of the regenerative breaking system could net up to 160 km from a single charge. Two power modes are available: Eco mode is the day-to-day default with Sport mode flowing a further 20-percent of the batteries power to the motor and increasing regenerative braking.

Aiding the bikes range and overall performance is a class exclusive 6-speed gearbox and clutch (neutral is found between 2nd and 3rd) that lets the rider pick the optimal engine rpm and thus maximize either range or performance. Power output from the Internal Permanent Magnet AC Induction Motor is rated at 54 hp and 61 ft-lbs of torque, which is available from a dead stop.

Dual 310mm Brembo floating discs with twin 4-piston radial mounted Brembo brake calipers are proper stoppers for any bike and when combined with the adjustable suspension front and rear, should deliver respectable handling characteristics.

The 2016 Victory Empulse TT will be available in the U.S. for late 2015, and as of now Victory’s Canadian website has MSRP set at $23,799.00
