BMW GS Trophy in Thailand comes to an end

The 2016 BMW Tr07ophy has come to an end. It’s been a rollercoaster ride this last week, with incredibly challenging off-road riding on the R1200GS that should have really been done on 250 cc enduro bikes. The last day’s ride was an easy 170 km back to Chiang Dao, where the adventure began seven days ago. We ended the day by riding our bikes straight into their shipping crates!

Riders encountered two special tests today, including the final test, which allotted the highest amount of points. It was a trials-type challenge on a motocross course that included many sharp hairpin turns, and steep climbs and descents.

04Team Canada rode hard and gave it their best shot in the special tests, but the competition was very tough. Team South Africa came out on top with Team UK and Team Germany tied for second place. Ultimately the Canucks placed 14th overall.

Emotions ran high at the closing ceremony, which was followed up by a party. Competitors board planes for home today.

The Canadians might not be taking home a trophy, but the memories and friendships they formed will last a lifetime.
