I am planning a trip to Las Vegas and want to rent a bike for a day. I was hoping to do Valley of Fire AND Hoover Dam. Has anyone done this? Is it feasible to do this in one day? The route I was planning was to go Interstate 15 north to VOF and then take the road that follows Lake Mead to Hoover Dam. If anyone has done this, do they have a preference to clockwise or counter-clockwise? Also, any good suggestions on where to rent a bike and any other things I should be considering would be greatly appreciated.

Are you talking about using Northshore Rd.? And I assume you're starting from downtown Vegas?
I don't see it being a problem as a one day ride as it's only a 250 km loop. However, I've only ridden off-road in the Vegas area, so maybe there's more to your route than meets the eye.

It's been nearly 40 years since I was in that exact area but I think the time taken to do such a loop would have more to do with the things to stop, look at and take pictures of than it would have to do with the condition of the roads. A very interesting place indeed.

Or, Google "renting motorcycles in Las Vegas" if you don't like Harleys.

I think the town is Overton, but not sure, where you make a right out of VOF and follow it to Hoover Dam. It looks like the road follows Lake Mead and might have some real good potential.
