    North American International Motorcycle Supershow

Drop by the Riders Plus Insurance booth at the show this weekend (January 6,7, and 8) and say hi... but right now you can feel free to visit our website for a competitive, accurate motorcycle insurance quote. http://www.ridersplus.com/insurance_quotes.php

The Supershow was quite busy this year; rumour has it that RidersPlus certainly handed out more pens than they were expecting to.

That's probably why their renewal quote was so friggin high (21% increase over last year). I have already returned their package in the mail and decided to go with TD / Primmum for the coming season!

Before we even entered the hall we got into a "discussion" with a State Farm agent about how screwed we are by the insurance industry in this Province. Of course he blames the high insurance costs on awards made by the courts, but I don't buy that when I see much lower rates for identical bikes in the very next town! Apparently, Orangeville is still a little too close to the COTU!

    Try living IN the COTU.

I've seen my premiums substantially increase just because I moved to the other side of the tracks. It was explained to me (I was with State Farm at the time) that the premiums were based on each area's claim rate and that unfortunately I had moved to an area that had more insurance claims. With your TD premium Malks, did you have to include other insurable items like a car or house?

Yeah, I gotta claim BS on the claim that moving across the tracks, or street, should make any difference on your policy.

I only have my bike with TD. Their bike policies are now underwritten by Primmum. Funny, I was with Primmum in 2010/2011 and went to RidersPlus for 2011/2012 because they were cheaper for my coverage. This year they jumped 21% over last year and the quote from TD was the exact same ($760) as the price quoted for 2011/2012 that I rejected. Even when confronted with the fact that another company could substantially beat their price, they were unable, or unwilling to lower the premium to match their competition.

I have 30+ years of unbroken motorcycle coverage and have NEVER made a claim on bike insurance. Hell, I have only ever had two collision claims in all of my 40+ years of driving/riding and one of those was with a piece of plywood that flew off a passing truck! We are so screwed in this Province and that lying snake at Queen's Park does not give a damn!

I'm the same as you, Malks. I have been with Riders Plus for a number of years now and switched to TD 2 years ago. I do, however, have 2 cars and my house with them as well, so that may have saved me even more. I have almost 40 years of non claim riding/driving experience as well, but still feel they have me by the short hairs. When I lived in Manitoba in the early 80's, they had "no fault' insurance, where everybody paid the same rate for the same vehicle or bike, but then had to pay extra for your licence and/or vehicle registration if you had any accidents or claims. It has been a long time, but that is how I remember it to be. Seemed to me like a good idea. Not sure if it still works that way.
I'm not too lazy to work, just too lazy to look for a job.
