BL, you're right, in fact I like the SC look better and my arse is even happier. One major difference you can see is the level saddle vs. the stock sloper. I do not like any of those current seats; the slope forces the rider to one uncomfortable position, the boys are shoved against the tank when braking which create a dangerous death grip on the bars.
Kawasaki could have easily built a better saddle. Don't get me going on the mirrors, skinny hand grips, high footpegs (on a bike with plenty of ground clearance) etc. I cured those problems with aftermarket parts, but why must we always be forced to take that route? It's really just basic practical things that become aggravating over time if the owner doesn't correct them. I have sold bikes that I otherwise enjoyed because of those annoying aggravations.

I suspect this has always been a bone of contention, partly because everyone is built differently and partly because some "person" in a design office someplace didn't like other people messing with his/her design concept just because of the comfort of some unknown customer. In the bad old days a lot of motorcycles wouldn't go very far without something falling off necessitating a stop so a comfortable seat wasn't on anyone's radar. (It probably wasn't that bad but from this distance in time it seems like it was). One thing I liked about the older bikes I've owned was that they were adjustable. Stuff was bolted on so you could set the bike up to work for you, up to a point. Seats always had to be replaced if the stock one didn't work though.
The older I get, the faster I was.
