    Weekender

Motorcycle camping. One of life's pure pleasures. Waking up on the shores of a beautiful BC lake after the previous days ride. Now if I can only make a living doing this. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Maybe it's pure pleasure if you do it often enough and have your trip preparation down to a routine. I'm such an infrequent motorcycle camper that it's always been a chore, plus I always ended up strapping too much gear to my bike. The last time I went for a week long camping adventure I had 90 lbs of gear hanging off the pillion. It can be fun, but for me there's no replacement for a hot shower and a comfy bed after a long day on the road.

We stopped in at Don Hatten's shop today and he was showing some video of his last trip to the Dakar. Racing all day in the dust, and then camping out in a tent at night Until ultimately winding up in a hospital bed after his bad crash. I have no complaints. And I have to say what a happy shop he has. But between my wife and I we have it paired down pretty good for bike touring/camping obviously including my laptop.

Camping ads to the adventure we find.
Always someone to talk to at the campsite, people seem more open to talk about there trip. Sitting around the campfire having a drink.

We have come to notice that most ( if not all) private campgrounds come with a pool and have nice hot showers, cheaper then a provincial park which has none of the above .

This is true on private campsites. And most do have nice tenting areas now, along with nicer showers and pools. Having traveled New Zealand a few years back they have a different concept called Holiday parks. Something for everyone. RVs, tenting areas, Motels and also little cabins with just beds in them. Most have some sort of communal cooking areas too.
