And it does a whopping 12 mph! Worlds first internal combustion engine motorcycle.

Lack of padding in the seat and suspension will make 12 mph dangerously fast.

I'd be more concerned about straddling that internal combustion engine. Hey, if nothing else it's guaranteed to give the owner wood. Oak, by the looks of it.

Actually I checked and it's ash. This is the only one in North America and it's at the Deeley Museum in Vancouver. I was there last November for the story and unveiling by Don James.

There was a Police motorcycle museum that opened up this year in Meridith, Nh, just beside Laconia Nh, and they have one of those on display.

An original? Maybe it was a reproduction or the original as part of a rotating display?

I decided to have a look at the museums website (http://americanpolicemotorcyclemuseum.com)

but couldn't find any reference to the Daimler.

One of these would be cool for a daily commuter:

    Hey Uwe:

Check out the March 2011 edition of Mojo. The Deeley Museum pulled off a great coup. They were able to purchase a brand new perfect reproduction of the Daimler Reitwagen, made from the original plans that are owned by Mercedes Benz. I don't know how they did this but if you Google Daimler Reitwagen you will come up with information on this breakthrough in motorcycling history. This even pre-dates Harley Davidson. ha ha
