Many of us have the dream to travel the world on two wheels. DVDs like Long Way Round (LWR) and Long Way Down (LWD) have lit a flame of adventure for many. Those videos show riding around the world on motorcycles in a very polished manner, including back up systems that a normal Joe like myself could never even think about affording. Although they’re great entertainment for a cold February night, they are far from ‘real world’ informative.
For those itching to try a long haul, multi-country or a full-blown ‘round the world (RTW)’ motorcycle trip… the information void has now been fabulously filled.

This two hour, forty-three minute DVD is about as down to earth ‘real’ as you’re ever going to get and is absolutely packed with invaluable information. Watch and listen to veteran RTW riders talk of their own experiences, in their own way. Find out what the magical ‘Carnet’ really means, how to get one and what it actually looks like. Listen to Susan, Grant and a bevy of riders illuminate the importance of border documentation, insurance, mental and physical health, medivac coverage, international drivers licenses, visas…the list goes on.
The “Achievable Dream” part one DVD is a heart-warming and inspiring video. It simply makes you want to chuck it all for an adventure. Watch Frank Butler print a digital picture and give it to a group of people who had never seen a paper image of themselves. Watch how a group of motorcyclists transform critical medical supply transportation for a hospital in a remote part of Africa by delivering some scooters. Listen to Ted Simons lovingly recall some snippets of RTW travel. The people depicted in this DVD are just like you and I with the exception of having lived the dream.
Immerse yourself in the Achievable Dream for a few hours and I’ll guarantee that you’ll watch it way more than once. The “Achievable Dream, Getting Ready!” will help you understand all of the foreboding mysteries that go into long haul riding, or a true RTW adventure.
I’ve always been a big fan of Horizons Unlimited and routinely use the site for answers. Now Grant and Susan Johnson have taken it to a whole new level with the release of the “Achievable Dream” series and I am positively salivating for the next installment. The remaining three DVDs are scheduled for release this summer.
